Advanced Ledge Detection & Traversal System for Unity

A new Unity tool that detects complex geometry with minimal setup and supports IK‑driven traversal animations.

In early 2025, developer Salman Hoseini released a capsule‑based prototype for ledge grabbing in Unity. By September 2026, that prototype had become a full‑featured system.

The new framework can detect complex ledges, including inward and outward corners, slopes, and uneven surfaces, and it calculates IK targets for hands and feet for each pose.

Its modular design lets you add new traversal methods—such as jumping onto a ledge behind you or dropping down to one—and a separate reaction system lets you plug in custom animation or physics logic. Level designers only need to tag geometry with a ledge layer.

The package works with Unity 6 and 2022 LTS, is render‑pipeline independent, and consists mainly of scripts and code architecture. It comes with thorough documentation and a YouTube playlist of tutorials.

For designers and animators, the tool offers a quick way to implement advanced traversal in action‑adventure or parkour titles. Next steps include extending traversal options and tailoring reaction behaviors.
