Office 101 Casa Andina: Garage Transformed into Creative Hub
In Medellín’s Laureles neighborhood, Casa Andina architects have turned an old garage into a coworking space for architecture firms. The project preserves the building’s memory while creating a new creative environment.
The building sits in Laureles, a neighborhood known for its traditional residential architecture, and has evolved over time to meet changing urban needs.
It was first used as a printing press and now serves as a coworking space for architecture studios.
Rather than demolishing the structure, the team rehabilitated the former garage, turning it into a functional creative workspace while respecting the existing elements.
The design follows an adaptive‑reuse approach: instead of starting from scratch, the architects retained the building’s memory and repurposed the space.
For designers and animators, the project illustrates how old spaces can be reimagined into innovative work environments without erasing their history.
Looking ahead, similar adaptive‑reuse projects may appear in other cities, offering new creative hubs that honor their architectural past.
