Casio & BlackEyePatch: G-Shock Watch with Gold Body and Bioplastic
Casio, in partnership with Japanese apparel brand BlackEyePatch, unveiled the new G-Shock model DW‑5600BEP‑9. Featuring a gold body, black digital face, and bioplastic construction, it will launch in the U.S. next week at a price of $165.
The DW‑5600BEP‑9 builds on the classic DW‑5600 design, retaining the original square shape of the DW‑5000. Its gold‑tinted case and strap contrast with a black digital display, and the back bears an engraved BlackEyePatch logo.
The case, strap, and bezel ring are made from bioplastic to reduce environmental impact. With dimensions of 48.9×42.8×13.4 mm and a weight of 53 g, the watch is lightweight. A standard mineral glass protects the screen.
Powered by a CR2016 battery, the watch is expected to last about five years. Standard G‑Shock features—shock resistance, 200‑meter water resistance, a stopwatch, a 24‑hour countdown timer, and multi‑alarm functions—are included. The Super Illuminator backlight with white LED guarantees ±15 s monthly accuracy in low light.
This is Casio’s third collaboration with BlackEyePatch, blending wearable tech with fashion design. For designers, the use of bioplastic and gold finish offers a sustainable, eye‑catching example that can inspire similar projects.
The watch will hit U.S. markets next week. Designers and motion artists can study its color palette, material choices, and user‑friendly features for inspiration. Future software updates may expand its capabilities further.
