Rockwell Group Designs Skywalker Grill Without 90-Degree Angles at Lucas Museum
At the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, Rockwell Group has created the Skywalker Grill restaurant and bar, avoiding any 90-degree angles to echo the museum's biomorphic architecture.
The Skywalker Grill is located inside the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and follows the museum’s sweeping curves and biomorphic forms. Rockwell Group chose to eliminate all 90-degree angles in the interior to keep the spatial flow continuous.
By avoiding sharp corners, the space feels smooth and guides visitors naturally along the intended path. This design directly aligns with the MAD‑designed architecture, reinforcing a sense of unity.
For UI/UX designers, the project demonstrates how biomorphic shapes can be translated into real environments. The fluid movement and lack of hard edges offer inspiration for creating soft, edge‑free interfaces.
Animators and motion designers can study how people move through the space and how the environment responds, providing useful cues for realistic scenes in games and animation.
The absence of 90‑degree angles shows how digital design tools can accurately render complex curves. This is valuable for interior designers and structural engineers looking to implement similar forms.
Looking ahead, we can expect Rockwell Group and other design firms to favor biomorphic, flow‑based solutions over rigid angles. This trend may shape the future of public and commercial space design.
