Timex Unveils New Luxury Mechanical Watch for the U.S. Market
Timex has launched its first luxury watch of 2026, the Atelier GMT Première M1a, in the United States. Powered by a Swiss Landeron 24 GMT movement, the watch combines striking design with a price of $1,350, appealing to watch enthusiasts and designers alike.
The new model, Atelier GMT Première M1a, was introduced in the U.S. as Timex’s most expensive product of 2026. It features a Swiss automatic Landeron 24 GMT movement with a 28,800 vibrations per hour frequency and a 40‑hour power reserve.
Its 38‑mm stainless‑steel case has a brushed finish, with a gold‑tinted inner band. The black dial sits beneath a double‑curved sapphire crystal protected by a three‑layer anti‑glare coating. A transparent back lets viewers see the internal mechanism.
The watch offers 50‑meter water resistance and a 24‑hour hand to distinguish day and night in a second time zone. Its daily accuracy is rated between +10 and –15 seconds.
The base model is priced at $1,350 and comes in two versions: a $1,350 edition with a black NBR rubber strap and a release lock, and a $1,450 edition featuring a stainless‑steel strap with a butterfly clasp.
For designers and animators, the watch exemplifies the blend of art and engineering. Its precise dial design, high‑quality materials, and visible mechanical movement provide inspiration for graphic and motion projects.
Looking ahead, Timex may continue to release additional models with similar features and could introduce digital or new user‑interface options for mechanical watches.
